International Civil Aviation Organization-ICAO and International Air Transportation Association-IATA have changed the methodology of Dangerous goods training programs globally.
IATA Dangerous Goods training has evolved from traditional learning to competency-based training and assessment (CBTA) as agreed by ICAO Dangerous good panel in DGP/27 (September 2019) and in accordance with the functions as stated in IATA’s ‘Dangerous Goods Training Guidance’.
ADG has decided to become part of the IATA CBTA center, applied for IATA CBTA Provider certification, and successfully created 5 functions as mentioned in ‘Dangerous Goods Training Guidance’.
Previously conventional training style was followed where things evolve around the instructor, With the change that ICAO and IATA have opted for, Things are now more focused on the trainee and his competency and how he will achieve these competencies to make a more competent workforce.
Following are the Functions ADG has applied for CBTA Certification
7.1 Preparing Dangerous goods consignment.
7.2 Processing and accepting goods presented as general cargo.
7.3 Accepting Dangerous goods consignments
7.5 Accepting Passenger and Crew Baggage and Direct Passenger Contact at an Airport.
7.10 Screening of Passengers and Crew and their Baggage, Cargo, and Mail
Although IATA mentioned 10 Job Functions, considering the current Market scope and requirements ADG has opted for 5 Functions.
On 1st March 2023, An IATA assessor Mr. Eric Tan visited Pakistan to conduct all the required assessments for 2 days, and later we took pictures to keep as a memory of his visit to our training premises.
Let’s hope for the best in our assessment results.
